Easy Crochet Headband Pattern for Last Minute Gifts

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Well almost, I can’t believe that tomorrow is Christmas and the end of the year is just around the corner. This year I really wanted to focus on making most of my gifts for friends and family and this really cute Crochet Headband is one of them. It’s super simple to make and works up fast. It’s the perfect beginners project. Even if you are in a last minute frenzy this Crochet Headband can be completed in as little as 2 hours making it the perfect last minute gift.

Let’s get started on this Crochet Pattern

You will need a few things. You probably have enough yarn laying around the house to complete this Crochet Headband.

Yarn: Any #5 Bulky yarn will work. I chose to use Caron Simply Soft in the color Soft Blue. I just loved the color of this yarn and it will match any outfit. You will need 1 skein or 150 yards of what ever yarn you want to use. You can purchase it in the highlighted link above.

Scissors: Any pair of scissors that you have on hand will work for clipping your yarn. I really enjoy using smaller scissors as I can fit them in my crochet hook bag. You can purchase a pair of smaller scissors in the highlighted link.

Crochet Hook: You will need a 5.5mm crochet hook for this Crochet Headband. If you do not have a 5.5mm hook you can purchase one in the highlighted link.

Yarn Needle: Any yarn needle that you have on hand will work. I like metal ones better, they seem to weave through the yarn easier than the plastic ones. What every yarn needle you choose just make sure the eye is big enough for the yarn to fit through. You can purchase a multi pack of metal yarn needles through the highlighted link.

Abbreviations: CH (chain), SLST (slip stitch), DC (double crochet).

Now for the Free Crochet Headband Pattern

Row 1: With your 5.5 mm crochet hook, CH (chain) 20. Place 1 DC (double crochet) in the 3rd chain from the hook (this counts as your first double crochet). Place 1 DC in each stitch all the way down to the end. CH 3 and turn your work. At the end of row 1 you should have a total of 19 stitches.

Repeat Row 1 until your project measures 20″ long. Once your Crochet Headband measures 20″ fasten off your yarn and leave a tail approximately 12″ long.

Creating the Twist!

Step 1: Lay your project wrong side facing down.

Step 2: Place the bottom of the project even with the top but off to the right side ( you want it to be in the left side of the project in the middle while the right side is hanging off of the edge).

Step 3: Take the right side of the project that is hanging off of the edge and fold it around to the back.

Step 4: Next, take the left side of the project and fold it over the top if the middle piece.

Step 5: Thread your tail through your yarn needle and stitch all the pieces together along the top. I try to line up the 4 layers of stitches so I can weave my yarn needle back and froth through the stitches. Once you have come to them end fasten off with a knot and weave in your yarn tails. Note: Remember, when weaving in your yarn tails make sure to go back and forth at least 3 times so your Crochet Headband doesn’t come apart in the wash.

Step 6: Lastly, flip your Crochet Headband inside out and it will automatically create the twist in the front.

That’s it! This project is super simple to make. I hope you enjoy making this Crochet Headband as much as I did. Make sure to post pics below so I can see all your color variations. Make Your Own Christmas Crochet Hat

Hello Everyone! Today’s blog brings you a Crochet Hat pattern that’s completely Christmas inspired. As you all know I live in Montana and it’s getting cold here. You may also know that I LOVE Christmas. I wanted a Crochet Hat that I could wear the entire month of December. I don’t always have time to do my hair so I wanted something festive that I could just throw on when I’m out running errands. I absolutely love the color variations that I chose for this cute Crochet Hat. It reminded me of candy cane stripes.

Here’s everything you will need for this Crochet Hat.

Yarn: Any #4 worsted weight yarn will do. I used Red Heart Super Saver in the colors Paddy Green, Soft White, and Cherry Red. One skein of each will suffice. I actually had extra left over from previous projects. <a href=”http://<a href=”https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1026079&u=3175406&m=72611&urllink=&afftrack=”>Lion Brand Yarn Lion Brand Yarns is also another fantastic alternative to Red Heart. If you can’t find these colors in the store you can purchase them through my affiliate links highlighted above.

Crochet Hook: US 6mm Crochet Hook. If you do not have a 6mm hook on hand, you can purchase one through my affiliate link highlighted above.

Yarn Needle: Any brand of yarn needle will do. I really like the metal ones. They seem to weave through the yarn much easier than plastic ones. You can purchase a multi pack of different sizes in the highlighted link.

Craft Scissors: Any type of scissors will work for this project. I love the smaller craft scissors because I can easily fit them in my crochet hook bag. You can purchase a pair in the highlighted link.

Pom Pom Maker: You do not have to use a pom pom maker. You can make the pom pom’s the old fashion way by winding the yarn around a piece of cardboard or around your hand. I love the pom pom makers because they create consistent and beautiful pom pom’s.

Festive Crochet Turkey Hat Pattern for November

Happy November Everyone! I can’t believe it’s already November! Just like all of you, I have no idea where the year has gone. Today’s post brings me to this really cute Crochet Hat Pattern requested by a friend. I think it’s perfect for the entire month of November.

My dear friend wanted something festive that she could wear the entire month. She didn’t say what, so I let my creativity flow and created this really cute Crochet Turkey Hat for her. It’s not a normal fall here in Montana as the days are still in the 50’s but it’s still in the teens and low 20’s of the morning. Most of us Montanans don’t even bother putting on a coat or hat but sometimes we feel like being festive.

I took to my dwindling yarn stash once again and found the perfect colors for this hat. Not to self, I need to stock up on brown and white. I used every last scrap I had to create this Crochet Hat. I hope you enjoy making this hat as much as I did. Please leave comments and pictures below, I’d love to see your finished projects.

Disclaimer: I work very hard on these patterns. Feel free to sell your finished projects. Please do not sell this pattern as your own. If you do sell your projects please link back to this page. Do not fasten off. SLST in every 12th stitch all the way down to the end. Fasten off leaving a long tail. Grab your yarn needle and weave in your yarn ends through out the chain where you changed colors. Thread your tail onto your yarn needle and weave your needle back and forth through each stitch. At the end pull the yarn tight to close the chain into a ball. Clip your yarn and secure the two tails with a knot. This is what you will use to attach the pom pom to your hat.

Assembly: Attach your two eyes to the hat. I like to use a whip stitch to attach the eyes. Make sure to place them as close together as possible. I think it looks cute with the eyes touching each other. Weave in your ends. Now grab your beak. Place just below the eyes and attach with a whip stitch to the crochet hat, weave in your ends. Glue your googly eyes to the middle of the white eyes and you are done!

Easy Crochet Hat Pattern for Winter

It was a beautiful week here in Montana. I would guess that this weekend is probably going to be one of the last nice weekends before it starts to get cold. It’s forecasted to be in the 70’s this weekend and down to the high 40’s next weekend. We had a few stunning days so I decided to work on this crochet pattern while sitting outside enjoying the nice weather. After all, I do need a new crochet hat for winter. The “To the Peak” Crochet Hat is uniques in its own way. Not only do the puff style stitches create an ultra soft feel and help hold the hats shape, it has a brim as well. The two decorative buttons on the side of the hat helps to create the brim and gives it a nice finishing touch.

Supplies and Materials Needed:

Yarn: Any #4 Worsted Weight yarn will work. I used Red Heart Super Saver in White. You can purchase it in the highlighted link.

Buttons: 2 buttons of any size, just depends on how you want them to look. They are for decoration only.

Crochet Hook: Any crochet hooks that you have on hand will work. I love the crochet hooks from Lion Brand and also Furls Crochet. They are both a very dependable brand and fit comfortably in your hands while crocheting. You can purchase them in the highlighted links.

Yarn needle: I really like the metal yarn needles. I feel like they weave through the yarn better than the plastic ones. You can purchase them through the highlighted link.

Craft Scissors: You can use any pair of scissors that you have on hand. I really love the small craft scissors because the fit easily in my crochet hook bag. You can purchase them through the highlighted link.

Hat Size:

Women’s One size fits most.

Gauge:

14 Single Crochet and 17 rows equal 4″

All About Me and Montana Crochet Creations

Hello Everyone! My name is Nikki White, I’m the owner and creator of Montana Crochet Creations.

I’m a southern girl that moved to Montana 30 years ago. Growing up in Oklahoma and Texas I learned at a very early age to crochet, knit, sew and quilt. I never really took to any of it when I was younger, let’s face it, I had better things to do.

It wasn’t until about 15 years ago that I became passionate about crochet. The winters her in Montana are extremely long and usually extremely cold. I never had an interest in skiing so when we had a super long and cold winter 15 years ago I took to crochet. It had been an extremely long time since I had picked up a crochet hook so I also took to YouTube and taught myself to crochet all over again.

I love walking through a yarn store and browsing all the different types of yarn. I literally can spend hours looking at all the different types of yarn and thinking about what I would make with them. I just can’t help it it truly is an addiction of mine.

Every year around the beginning of October I start planning out what I’m going to make and give as gifts for Christmas. I’ve done this for the last 8 years or so. The first people to get gifts from me were my two daughters and my husband. After all, I had to practice on someone. After a few years of practice I moved on to gifts for friends and family. Now I enjoy making crochet gifts for every occasion. It’s an extremely relaxing pastime for me and I just can’t get enough.

I’m extremely excited to share all the projects and gifts that I make along the way. I hope that you enjoy my journey and fall in love with crochet just like I did. I look forward to teaching you all how to crochet and create unique gifts for your friends and family!

Happy crocheting from the Montana White’s!
