It’s hard to believe that today is December 1st. Where did the year go? I’m sure that most of you feel like the year flew by. I know I sure feel that way. December brings one of my all time favorite holidays, Christmas. I’m in awe over all the twinkling Christmas lights, decorations, and the Christmas spirit. I feel like Christmas puts almost everyone in a good mood. After all, it’s a time for friends and family, a time to be thankful, and grateful.
Every year I crochet fun little Christmas ornaments for our tree. This year I thought I would share a pattern that my mom taught me almost 35 years ago when I was first learning to crochet. These crochet Christmas ornaments in the shape of a snowflake are super simple to make and work up in about 10 minutes. So go ahead and grab your favorite yarn, a crochet hook, turn on your favorite tv program and let’s make something fun!

Crochet Christmas Ornament Snowflake Pattern
First, Create a magic circle
Round 1: Start with a CH (chain)3, next, place 2 double crochet in the magic circle. This creates your first double crochet cluster. *CH4, 3DC* 4 more times. You should have a total of 5 DC(double crochet) clusters. Next CH 3 and SLST (slip stitch) to the top of the first DC (the CH 3 at the beginning).
Round 2: First, SLST in the next 2 stitches. Next, SC (single crochet) in the CHSP (chain space), Then, *CH 4, SC, CH 6, SC, CH 4, SC*. Lastly, CH 3 and slip stitch to the top of the first DC. This is going to create the cute little snowflake points. Fasten off your yarn and weave in your ends.
