One of my favorite holidays is just around the corner. I love everything fall and everything Halloween! I love all the flavors that come along with fall and Halloween. The smells of cinnamon, caramel, pumpkin, and apple cider are some of my all time favorite scents. I also love the changing leaves and the cooler days and nights. Halloween here in Montana is a little different than Halloween in others parts of the country. I’ve seen many Halloween’s where it was below zero and a coat was needed over your costume (or under, depending on how amazing the costume was). Many times I opened the door to see bundled up ghosts and goblins with a coat under their Halloween costume.
Last year we were pretty lucky and it was in the 40’s Halloween night. Now, if you are a Montana native, or you grew up somewhere colder, you know that at 40 degree night in October is rare. It was a blast watching all the little ones running around trick-o-treating in their costumes with no coat in sight!
These cute little Crochet Pumpkin Coasters are the perfect addition for your night answering the door and passing out candy. After all you may have to get up quite often if you live in a neighborhood with a lot of houses. Made with cotton yarn they will absorb any condensation from your glass and withstand the heat from a cup of tea or coffee. So grab that crochet hook and some of your favorite colors of cotton yarn and lets get started on these adorable pumpkin coasters.

Materials
Yarn: Any Cotton Yarn in the colors Bright Orange and Forest Green. I used Lily Sugar and Cream Cotton Yarn for these Pumpkin Coasters in the colors hot orange and pine green. I also really love the cotton yarns from <a href=”http://<a href=”https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1026079&u=3175406&m=72611&urllink=&afftrack=”>Lion Brand Yarn Lion Brand. You will need a small amount of green and 1 skein of orange. You should get approximately 8 coasters out of one skein of orange. I actually had a little left over, I probably could have gotten one more coaster if not 2. You can order your yarn in the highlighted links.
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm (I/9) I’ve really been into the crochet hooks with the silicone handles lately. I just love the way they feel when I crochet with them. I also love the crochet hooks from both <a href=”http://<a href=”https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1026079&u=3175406&m=72611&urllink=&afftrack=”>Lion Brand Yarn Lion Brand and <a href=”http://<a href=”https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=2008472&u=3175406&m=116536&urllink=&afftrack=”>Mint OdysseyFurls Crochet. You can purchase them in the highlighted links.
Yarn Needle: Any yarn needle you have on hand will work. I really like the metal ones. I feel like they weave through the cotton yarn much easier than the plastic ones. You can purchase them in the highlighted link.
Craft ScissorsB: Any size scissors you have on hand is fine. I really like the smaller craft scissors because they fit in my crochet hook bag. You can purchase a small pair of craft scissors in the highlighted link.
Crochet Pumpkin Coaster size: Approximately 5″ wide by 4.5″ tall. You will be working in rounds so no need to turn your work. I do suggest using a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark your starting stitch.
Abbreviations: ST (stitch), SC (single crochet), SL ST (slip stitch), STS (stitches), HDC (half double crochet), DC (double crochet).
