Well Hello Everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful day. It’s still the Arctic Tundra here and I’m starting to come down with the winter time blues. I decided that I would keep the summer vibe going and make this cute Crochet Palm Tree Appliqué to go along with the flamingo appliqué I made last week. This Crochet Palm Tree Appliqué is super easy to make and works up in no time al all. So go ahead and get settled in and follow along with me, let’s make a crochet palm tree. If you prefer to follow along with a video make sure you check out my YouTube video down below.
Yarn: Any #4 worsted weight or cotton yarn will work in the colors brown and light sage, I used red heart super saver. You won’t need much so it’s the perfect scrap buster. You can check them out in the highlighted link.
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm, I am currently obsessed with these crochet hooks that have the silicone handles. I love how grippy they are when you are crocheting. You can check them out in the highlighted link.
Craft Scissors: Any pair of scissors that you have on hand will work just fine.
Yarn Needle: I really like the metal yarn needles. I feel like they weave through the yarn better than plastic ones. What ever you have on hand is just fine.
Pattern Difficulty: Easy
Abbreviations: CH (chain), SC (single crochet), HDC (half double crochet), DC (double crochet), TRC (triple crochet), SC2TOG (single crochet 2 stitches together), SLST (slip stitch).

Let’s Get Started on the Palm Tree Appliqué Trunk:
Row 1: With brown yarn, CH (chain) 5. SC (single crochet) in the second CH from the hook. SC in each remaining chain. CH 1 and turn your work.
Row 2: SC in each stitch across. CH 1 and turn your work.
Row 3: SC2TOG (single crochet 2 stitches together) the first 2 stitches. SC in remaining stitches. CH 1 and turn your work.
Rows 4-10: SC in each stitch across. CH 1 and turn your work.
Row 11: SC2TOG. Do not fasten off. CH 1 and SC in the CH 1 space. Continue to SC along the side (there isn’t really any stitches so just sc where you find fit). When you get to the first bottom corner of the trunk place 2 SC in the corner stitch. SC in the remains stitches across till you come to the second corner. Place 2 SC in the corner stitch and continue to work SC in the spaces along the other side of the trunk. SLST (slip stitch) to the top of the very first SC and fasten off. At this point you can go ahead and weave in your yarn tails.
Palm Tree Applique Fronds:
With green yarn, CH 9. SC in the second CH from the hook, HDC (Half Double Crochet) in next, DC (Double Crochet) in next, TRC (Triple Crochet) in next, DC in next, HDC in next, SC in last stitch. SLST into the SC. Do Not fasten off. CH 9 again and repeat the pattern of *SC in 2nd CH, HDC, DC, TRC, DC, HDC, SC, SLST*. You are going to repeat this until you have a total of 5 palm fronds. SLST to the first SC of the first Frond. Fasten off and leave a tail long enough to attach the palm fronds to the trunk.
Attaching the Fronds to the Trunk:
Thread your green yarn onto your needle. Situate your fronds at the top of the trunk. Weave the yarn from front to back several times through each frond. Once you have the very last frond attached, poke your needle through to the back and weave in your yarn tails.
