Easy Crochet Chicken Drink Coasters Tutorial

Hi Everyone! Welcome back, I hope you all have fun plans for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, it’s going to be cold and rainy here in Montana so I’ll be staying at home and making more of these really adorable Crochet Chicken Drink Coasters. It’s usually pretty nasty where I live over Memorial Day so indoor projects are a must. This Crochet Chicken Drink Coaster is the perfect projects. You can pop on the TV and watch your favorite shows while making these Crochet Chicken Drink Coasters.

Anyway, enough about that! These Crochet Chicken Drink Coasters are simple to make. You can make them with any color of scrap yarn that you have on hand. You’ll need about 15 yards for the main body color and just a scrap amount for the beak, waddle, and comb.

Here’s what you will need for this Crochet Chicken Drink Coaster

Crochet Hook: 3.75 mm crochet hook. I love the crochet hooks with the silicone handles. They are very affordable and comfortable in your hand while crocheting. If you would like to purchase a crochet hook from them you can do so in the highlighted link above.

Yarn: Any #4 worsted weight yarn in the colors of your liking will do I used red heart super saver in the colors soft mink (you will need 1 skein), red (scrap amount), and gold (scrap amount). I feel like their yarn is very consistent and I very rarely have trouble crocheting with it. If you want to use this Crochet Chicken Coaster with cold drinks, I suggest using cotton yarn. You can purchase both types of yarn in the highlighted link above.

Other Supplies: Craft scissors and a yarn needle. I like the smaller craft scissors because they are easy to fit in my crochet hook bag. You can use what ever scissors you have on hand. I also really love metal yarn needles. I feel like they weave through the yarn much easier than the plastic ones.

All About Me and Montana Crochet Creations

Hello Everyone! My name is Nikki White, I’m the owner and creator of Montana Crochet Creations.

I’m a southern girl that moved to Montana 30 years ago. Growing up in Oklahoma and Texas I learned at a very early age to crochet, knit, sew and quilt. I never really took to any of it when I was younger, let’s face it, I had better things to do.

It wasn’t until about 15 years ago that I became passionate about crochet. The winters her in Montana are extremely long and usually extremely cold. I never had an interest in skiing so when we had a super long and cold winter 15 years ago I took to crochet. It had been an extremely long time since I had picked up a crochet hook so I also took to YouTube and taught myself to crochet all over again.

I love walking through a yarn store and browsing all the different types of yarn. I literally can spend hours looking at all the different types of yarn and thinking about what I would make with them. I just can’t help it it truly is an addiction of mine.

Every year around the beginning of October I start planning out what I’m going to make and give as gifts for Christmas. I’ve done this for the last 8 years or so. The first people to get gifts from me were my two daughters and my husband. After all, I had to practice on someone. After a few years of practice I moved on to gifts for friends and family. Now I enjoy making crochet gifts for every occasion. It’s an extremely relaxing pastime for me and I just can’t get enough.

I’m extremely excited to share all the projects and gifts that I make along the way. I hope that you enjoy my journey and fall in love with crochet just like I did. I look forward to teaching you all how to crochet and create unique gifts for your friends and family!

Happy crocheting from the Montana White’s!
